Terms of Use

Last updated 1 November 2026 · Lagat, by Simson Softwares Private Limited

The short version. Lagat is a notebook, not an accountant. It records what you tell it and adds it up. The records are yours, they live on your phone, and you can export or delete them at any time.

You and your family use Lagat for nothing, forever — add as many people to your own house as you like. The only thing an owner pays for is optional cloud backup. We do not promise the app is free of mistakes, and we do not accept liability for a decision you take because of a number on this screen — check anything that matters.

1. Who these terms are with

Lagat is published by Simson Softwares Private Limited, Chandigarh, India ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app or the website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it. Questions go to support@lagat.in.

2. What Lagat is — and is not

Lagat helps you keep a dated record of construction expenses, party balances, labour attendance and hired plant, and shows you totals from it.

It is not accounting software, not a book of account for any statutory purpose, and not tax, legal or financial advice. It does not file returns, does not compute GST or TDS, and its totals are not an audited statement. If you need any of that, use it alongside a qualified professional, not instead of one.

3. Your account

Most of Lagat works with no account at all. An account is needed only to sync across phones, back up to the cloud, or share a site with someone else.

Accounts are verified by a code sent to your mobile number. You are responsible for the number staying in your control and for who you approve onto your site. Anyone you approve can see and change the records you have given them access to — including, for a supervisor, the crew assigned to them. Remove people you no longer work with.

You must be at least 18, and the number you register must be yours.

4. What you may not do

5. Paying

WhatPrice
The app, for you and your family — any number of people you add to your own houseFree, with no time limit
Cloud backup and cloud storage of bill photos (optional)₹100 per GB, per month
Contractor accounts: each additional user, per site₹250 per person, per site, per month
A worker who only marks their own attendance₹25 per worker, per month

Prices are in Indian rupees and GST is charged on top at the applicable rate. Paid plans bill monthly in advance and continue until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next charge; it does not refund the month you are in.

We can change prices, and if we do we will tell you in the app before the change reaches your account. If a payment fails, paid features stop — your records do not disappear. The app keeps working on your own phone, and export stays available.

6. Your records are yours

You keep all rights to what you enter. We claim no ownership of it and we do not sell it or use it for advertising. We handle it as described in the Privacy Policy.

You can export everything to Excel, CSV or PDF at any time, on any plan, including the free one. This is deliberate: leaving should never mean losing the year's accounts.

7. Availability

The app is designed to work offline and it does. The parts that need our server — sync, cloud backup, the shared labour register — depend on that server being up, and we do not promise it always will be. We may take it down for maintenance, and we will avoid doing so without notice where we can.

8. What we do not promise

The service is provided "as is". To the extent Indian law allows, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the app is free of defects, that a calculation is correct for your situation, or that it will meet a requirement you have not told us about. Check any figure before you act on it — before paying a contractor, settling a wage, or agreeing a rate.

9. Liability

To the extent Indian law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profit or opportunity, for a payment made or withheld on the basis of a record in the app, or for data lost where you had not enabled backup.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited in total to the amount you actually paid us in the twelve months before the claim — which, for a free user, is nil.

Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

10. Backups are your responsibility

A free single user's records exist only on that phone. If the phone is lost, reset, or the app is uninstalled, those records are gone and we cannot recover them, because we never had them. Export a backup regularly, or turn on cloud backup.

11. Ending it

You can stop using Lagat whenever you like and delete your account from Settings, or at lagat.in/delete-account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that we are required to close by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to export.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you we will say so in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top always shows the current version, and continuing to use the app after that date means you accept it.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Chandigarh have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to any right you have as a consumer to bring proceedings where you live.
